Sudden spike in temperature??

My PC's temperature are a bit high now. This problem started about a week ago. Before, I was running about 34 idle and 44 full load. But, now, it is running at 47 idle and 52 full load. Those temperatures aren't pretty. What could cause a sudden spike in temperature like that?

Donator
ambient temp rise would be the obvious answer since summer is coming, but I suppose you wouldnt ask then.

Also check your CPU usage after you started Windows and watch it for a minute or so to see if maybe some application is using more CPU cycles.
otherwise open that case and check your fans are spinning fine and that heatsink is not dusty.. but such a sudden temp rise is indeed odd if it has nothing to do with ambient temps

We get 50-60's throughout the year so I don't think it's a temperature problem. All the fans are working fine. I think it might a heatsink. I have just moved so the new house is quite dirty.

Well, I opened my case and it was atrocious. There was mounds and mounds of dust and 4 different mosquitos. This new house is a bitch. I ran a vaccum over my heatsink but it only helped a little bit. Can anyone give any suggestions about how to clean a heatsink. I remember last time my dad was over he washed it with water or something.

Would the compressed air you use to clean keyboards work?
