Tyl3n0L is on a distinguished road

Which RAM should I buy for...

Hi,

Ok, my System Specs is in my Signature... I really like my computer however I want another 1GB of RAM... I currently have a pair of Muskin PC 3200 BH-5 running at 2.2.2.5. And I know the Athlon64 754Pins memory controller is kind of ...selective... So I really don't know which ram should I buy since Muskin doesn't make BH-5 anymore...

What about the timing? Do I need another pair of ram that run at 2.2.2.5? Can I buy 1 Stick of 1GB or 2x512? Sorry I don't know much about RAM.

Thanks!!

I am pretty sure running 4 sticks of memory will force your ram to run in 2T which will give you a major performance hit. And chances are unless you are doing some serious video editing etc, having more ram than 1GB won't give much extra performance anyways.

However if you still want the ram you would need to buy another stick of two of memory with BH-5 chips, prefebale the same manufacture or you ram would run the speeds of the slower ram.

Personally if i were you i'd save for a Socket939 board and CPU, since the 939 boards are dual channel boards unlike the 754..

btw you have no signature

IF you put that much ram in 4 sticks it will force you to "T2" wich kill like 300mb/s
also it will drop your MHz to 333 and it will be locked that way.... Most boards are
limted to two slots anyways

unless you use all single sisded sticks, wich the only one i know of are CAS 3
It's verry tricky i'll not say more then that...

Ha Good Luck finding more BH5. You might want to think about getting 2 1 gig sticks.
