Ok, I decided to switch cases, so all my parts are in the new case. I plugged everything in and tried it for the first time. Strangely something/s is/are not working right. First, when I switch on the PSU from the back, the system immediately turns on by itself. Second, I get no video signal when the monitor is connected (the monitor is working btw). And third, I have a LED Diagnostic bracket, and the lights seem to be hanging. The order is as such:
1.........2 3.........4 LED lights 2 & 3 are red; 1 & 4 are orange. The manual doesn't describe this situation. Can anyone help, please? |

What mobo is it buddy? Is the power switch wired up correctly (does it have a jumper by-passing the powerup button)?
Believe it or not i've had to retire my pops PC today due to the same graphics card problem (it drove me insane). Give me a bit more info and i'll try my best to help. |

Here are my specs:
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum Mobo AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester ThermalRight XP-90 w/ TT Silent Cat 9cm fan 1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR (2-2-2-5) HIS IceQ Radeon 9800 Pro Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS ThermalTake Tsunami Dreams MidTower Case OCZ Powerstream 520w PSU 2 x 160GB Segate Barracuda SATA Hd's Nec 3520A DVD_RW I believe the power switch is set up correctly. It's a black and red wire. Black is hooked up to the negative lead and the red to the positive. The reset switch is a purple and white wire. White is hooked up to the positive and the purple to the negative. The only devices hooked up to the psu are my case fans, the vid card and the dvd-rw drive, although the drive isn't connected to the ide port. I had it hooked up before, but I took it out to see if it was causing my problems. |

I would advise you to pull all power connectors, remove the battery, and reset the CMOS. That board is highly ESD sensitive.

You can try resetting the cmos however I don't think thats going to help much. Your system is hanging right after the agp check though really it shouldnt be moving on if thats the fault. Only thing I can suggest for now is swapping in another GPU and trying it out.
Obviously try reseating your current gpu first andtesting it in another system if possible. Let me know how you get on. |

Nope wouldnt pass the first test if it was CPU. You'd have 4 red lights.
Im pretty sure it's a graphics issue. See if you can get into bios before it posts and make sure it hasnt defaulted to PCI graphics. Then run through each setting and check it. Not unknown for it to dump all your settings. If however you cant get into bios Im gonna stick with trying a new borrowed card. |

Well I took out the 9800 pro and put in my old geforce 4 4200 TI. I got the same problems; no signal to the monitor, the diagnostic leds are the same colors as stated above
![]() Edit: I got it to work! Well it gets to the POST. I reseated the CPU and it booted up. Need to connect the hd's and such to make sure everything is fine. I also had a bit of a scare as the 2nd time I removed the heatsink, it pulled up the cpu with it But I checked the pins and they all seem to be fine. I guess whenever you remove the heatsink, you should always reseat the cpu, even if you think it's fine
