Help w/an overheating AMD 64 3400+ Newcastle

Alright, I idle at 60 degrees. I have 4 case fans (80 MM, Cooler MAster), and the stock AMD CPU cooler. My main board and ambient tameps are excellent (low 40's), but this damn CPU is 59-62+). Any help would be thoroughly appreciated. I have money to spend, but would like to stick w/air cooling. Thanks.

Ambient temp of 40+ degrees sounds a bit high to me. What is the temp in the room you are in?

Currently the machine that I am on (the one in my sig) is at ambient 28 Celsius and Processor is at 47 Celsius (its under a bit of load atm due to some processes running).

Try taking the door off the side and pointing a fan at the inside of the case while running and watch your temps. You may just have bad airflow in the case. I ran into that a while ago but was able to solve it by adding a 120mm exhaust fan blowing out the back.

I agree that your MB temps seem rather high. However, on my board those temps are about normal. I would suggest a better heatsink/fan though. High dollar would be the Thermalright XP90, low dollar the Artic Cooling Freezer 64. If the house fan works well, you might think about adding a nice 92mm or 120mm to the side panel /w a filter to help get the air moving.

XP90 isn't that expensive, it can be had for under $30 US...

Yeah, I took the side off of the case, and pointed a 20" fan @ it on Hi. Temps didn't move much on the CPU(2 degrees). Mainboard temps went low though. I may invest in a 120mm fan for the back. Possibly going to replace my CRAPPY(don't get one)CoolerMaster Extreme Power 430 W PSU, w/an Antec (the ones w/the intake AND exhaust fans)as well. I am looking into this as a heatsink/fan on the cpu problem. I heard from a friend w/the same exact chip that his temps were identical to the degreee as mine. Another w/a Winchester(?) core 3400+ has the same problem as well. I am guessing they are just hot ass chips. I will look into that brand of HS/F, lap it and report back. THANKS ALL WHO HELPED

Make sure you have the latest bios, make sure you have put your heatsink on correctly.
I get about 37C idle and about 55C full load with the stock amd heatsink on my 3400+...
