Adding 512-dual channel?
I just helped my friend's mom move all her stuff out of her old house and into the new one (my arms and fingers are shot, I can barely type) and I have earned 90 bucks in doing so. Being too lazy and stupid to save money, I am thinking about adding another stick of the same type of corsair xms memory of the one I currently have, giving me 1gb of ram and running it in dual channel. Would it be worth the 62 bucks for another 512 mb of ram and having dual channel? Would the performance difference be significant?

I would much prefer 1024 (512x2) in dual channel than a single stick of 512mb ram.especially if you are running xp(recomendend min is 256mb) it would be benificial.

yes it will be worth it. you'll not only double your ram, but you will also gain the dual channel feature.
but just to know, what is the chipset on your MoBo? |

the more ram the better. newer games, like battlefield 2 for example, need a lot of ram so having 1 gb would make it run much smoother. i say go for it

Not sure if you know this, but to take effect and performance of the dual ram you need to put 1 stick in slot 1 and the other stick in slot 3.. just thought i'd mention that.

I went from 512mb to 1gb of ram. The performance doubled in many games. That wasnt from dual channel it was from the incease of ram.
