Higher Frenquency vs Lower Frenquency, lower timings, dual channel and more memory
I bought another stick of CMX512-3200C2 from newegg to add on to my current one. The problem is, the memory isn't stable at ddr 400 no matter how high i set the timings. The only way I got them to work together is setting my ram to a 166 FSB. At 166, I could set my timings to 2-2-2-5.
Would it be better to have 512MB at a frequency of 210 with timings of 2-3-3-6 or to have 1024MB with a frequency of 166 and timings of 2-2-2-5 and to have dual channel enabled. I'm thinking about returning the stick i just bought because of the heartache I had ot go through to test it and to get it to work (8 CMOS restarts).

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download181.html then one stick at a time and read it with this http://www.cpuid.org/download/cpu-z-129.zip make sure you bios is set on auto or by SPD One of those sticks timeing differs from the other you must chose the slowest and adjust the values in the bios or the Slowest stick must be incerted in the 1st memory bank Also sometime memory just doesn't work properly in dual channel with diffrent sticks but usealy it's timeing /refresh related...

I have two sticks of CMX512-3200C2. Their the same brand and type of modules, just different revisions and I'm having a problem to get them to work together.

by them selfs. Could be thier useing diffrent chips! with diffrent refreshes.. Even the same chips from another batch can very. Especaly since it a new revision. sticks of ram that ar diffrent even with the same timeing say 2-2-2-5 there is more to the full string of timeings then just 2-2-2-5 are are more it like 2-2-2-5-?-?-?- Cas, Ras to Cas, Ras to precharge, tans, trc, idle timer If the two stick don't match 100% and the slowest timeings of the two sticks should be used to make them work with eatch other ok. That why ram for dual channel ram are sold in tested mateched pairs "kits". But I've used unmatched pairs befoe I just used the slowest timeings. But I've herd people say that unmatched stick that wernt bought in pair useally will not work togeather in dual channel.

Are you running these stick at the OC speeds in your sig? If you're running your memory 1:1 /w your processor that maybe the problem.

I was running the single stick I had with the OC settings, right now I set my FSB to 200 and have a 6:5 divider.
I can run each seperate stick at the OC speeds in my sig, im not sure if it's worth the dual channel to keep the second stick I have because I have to run it at a lower frenquency.
