Whats the speed difference between these two cards?

I was curious as to how much faster an Nvidia GeForce 4 TI 4200 is when compared to a Radeon 8500 Retail? Not the LE edition.

I don't know, but...

...I prefer my GF3 for gaming over my 8500 in Bubbles. Even though the 8500 scores about 1100 points better in 3dm2k1se, the GF3 just flat-out games better.

Hold your horses ppl !!!

If the 4200 is 64mb version a Gf3 Ti 500 will match and sometimes run over it in performance.

My baby is in the 10k scoring zone and alot of 4200 64mbs havent seen that mark.

But the question is how they perform in realtime (games etc.) and i can say im am very satisfied so far.

And the original question should also state what 4200 we are talking about.

I really hate quoting my self but:

"And the original question should also state what 4200 we are talking about"

Thats why i talked about my GF3....

Some gf4 Ti4200s suck....is my point

Ever see the default core clocks on some 4200s ?? (200 )

And i see a 8500 up there with a 275 core but with a 275 mem clock so im sure that in alot of cases they come up equal and this IF the 4200 is a 64mb model with cheap ram.

Nah.

You kidding? A GF4 ti4200 would be an upgrade for me from my GF3 (250/540).

Basically this is what is being said. Look for a QUALITY geforce4 Ti 4200, with 128MB of DDR ram. It will kill the 8500 in nearly every test.. As my VisionTek is a testement to. clocks of 315/620 and a 3dmark2001 of 12,116. Look for the visiontek, msi, asus... or something similar. You can't go wrong.

Default Post

I've just replaced my Radeon 8500 with this http://www.hexus.net/review.php?review=425

Out of the box it is clocked at 275/500 MHz core and memory speeds, the same as a Ti4400. Although I haven't tried it yet, it is possible to run it at 300/600MHz almost as fast as a Ti4600, all for the price of a regular Ti4200. The only downside is the 7200rpm fan, it's a noisy bugger. Well, can't say I wasn't told, RIV@NVX did warn me in an earlier post.

Thanks for all the replys guys. To clarify I am talking about an Nvidia GeForce 4 TI 4200 128mb. I was wondering if it would make sence to upgrade to this card for only $100 (a trade in deal). Does anyone know how this would compare gaming wise, or does it just beat the hell out of the Radeon 8500 64mb?

Oh, I didn't know that . . .
This is like 8500LELELE situation?
Are these lo-qual Ti4200's as slow as Radeon8500 even?

Mike: I think thw "standard" Ti4200's do beat the hell out of the Radeon8500

Hey thats one hell of a card .
I saw the review about a week ago and fell in love with the HEATPIPE cooling it has.

They are gonna have a FX model like that too.

the 9000 is worse than BOTH an 8500 and a 4200.
