IRQ Settings..
Whilst fiddling with SiSoftware SANDRA, I've noticed that my network card, modem, and video cards all share the same IRQ number (11). Is that a good thing?

Thats from ACPI irq sharing, most of the time it works fine but occasionally can cause problems (instability) in which case you can choose when installing xp & 2000 by pressing f5 when the installer asks you to press f2 for automated system recovery or f6 to install addtional HD controller drivers, where by you would select standard pc...or if your bios allows turning off acpi in which case the windows installer would select standard pc for you...
you can try both out by copying your hardware profile (System Properties, Hardware, Hardware Profiles) & rename it to something else, also making sure to select this is portable & include this profile whilst booting, after completing this reboot and you will be presented with your profiles select the new profile. Now goto System properties, hardware, device manager, select computer, acpi, update driver, select from list, select standard pc, next & finish (have your drivers handy) reboot, select the same profile, install drivers, & hopefully everything will be on its own irq (unless you have conflict in which case PCI card slot swapping will be in order) I wouldn't bother, using standard pc unless your having issues with the system thats caused by the irq sharing...as you genrally lose more than you gain from it (eg it is now safe to shut down your computer & system seeming slightly less responsive) the shutdown thing can be sorted with APM... These methods cannot be done in reverse eg: you've installed standard pc & you would like to add an acpi hardware profile, it just isn't an option! I'm sure i've probably missed something memory ain't as shit hot as used to be! if anyone wants to correct or add feel free
