PSU options
all right,... I need some info, real fast.
I need a new PSU,... (since my onld one bluw up) i'm just about to send my brother in to town to pick me one up. I'm looking at the shops pricelist, they say they have: 300ATX = 19.99 pounds 350ATX = 24.99 pounds 400ATX = 29.99 pounds 400ATX low noise version = 34.99 pounds 500ATX big fan = 34.99 pounds 550ATX = 39.99 pounds ----------------------also: Antec Smart Power 450W = 79.99 pounds Antec True Power 480W = 89.99 pounds the price list dosn't say what make the top row are. What do you guys think. I have to say,.. I'm more tempted on the cheeper one's,.. I know, I know.. but I really straped for cash right now. I'm interested in (((low noise))) , but wouldn't a BIG FAN be less noisey too? The pricelist is a month or two out of date. Last edited by HMS-Dreadnought; Jul 22, 2005 at 12:34 PM. |

Well, if i where you i'd go for one of the Antecs hands down. The Psu is the heart of the system, many forgets that and goes with the cheapest possible solution and ends up regreting it.

It probably will last you a while if you're not planning to do any overclocking at all. What are your computer specs atm? If you're using older gear you probably will be fine with one of those, but when you'll upgrade your computer you most probably will have to upgrade the PSU with it...

Look for 450W or high also look for 22A or higher on the 12V rail.
I'm not big on some flashy brands I'd rather pay a decent sum for a decent brand then top dallor of a better one....At some point your burning money just to have the better brands "name". But the better brand names are the safer buy. I like sites that feature feed back and reviews like newegg to kinda help me choose. I refuse to pay the prices that the top names are going for. Just never pay less the $30 USD for a PSU and a known and decent MFG and you should be fine... How about attaching brands/nodels to the prices above or give us some links
