Hard Drive Question

I just bought a new 200gb harddrive, i installed it, says it was installed, it's under the Device Manager, when i rebot and go to my set up it says it's there.

But it's not under mycomputer, i can't save anything to it, or basically find it

Whats going on? i need this hardrive lol

you probably need to format it. this'll probably be moved to the tech discussion

use a program like partition magic.

It's not working, or i'm doing it wrong with the trial version + it doesn't say format anywhere

And when i was using the Partition magic it said the drive was unlocated or something

How do i get it so it's "Located"

It will not appear in my computer until you partition it and it has a drive letter assignment. Goto control panel, classic view, administrative tools, computer management, disk management, right click on the drive, initialize it and then create a partition and make sure a drive letter is assigned.

There ya go! And you know - I'd never done that from Windows! Use the Ultimate Boot Disk for that now, but always kept a 98se boot floppy around for that...
