Damnit they've had like 2 years to finish 2k3, you'd think they'd have it out as soon as possible

I think that what is going to happen is they are going to wait until they can test with retail versions of the GFFX (nv30) cards before releasing the benchmark. They get serious sponsorship from almost everyone graphix related in the field, and nVidia is a big player, so off-the-bat compatibility with the nv30 is going to be a big deal for this newfangled "Futuremark". However, they have had quite a lot of time with pre-final-release directx 9 and have had an ati radeon 9700 for a while too... so its probably going to be very refined and non-buggy upon release...

ToshiroOC

Just out of curiosity, anyone think they gonna come put with an x86-64 version of 3dmark for the older ones? (2001/2000) I think that since we all have a sort of gut feel (like you have a gut feel for how long a meter/foot is) about how good a system is with those, it might be interesting to see the Hammer capabilities in 64 bit on the directx 8.1 stuffs...

They should already have a GFFX and will soon have a R350 I bet. So they won't have many excuses left soon...

I'm sure they already have a GFFX, and probably an R3xx from ATI, BUT I think that regardless, they won't be coming out with the DX9 benchies until most of the retail versions of the cards are out so they won't have to patch like crazy everytime a retailer comes out with a new flavor of the GFFX...

Why would they have to patch it for 3rd-party GFFXs? All those boards will use the same GPU which is all that matters for the program. Nvidia doesn't let 3rd-parties modify the reference design enough to impact much. The card version is just given as a string in the drivers.

RenoMark2004 has been released!

Features include:

Easily hackable databases so you can post imaginary numbers to gloat to your friends

Totally unstable programming, so you can brag about overclocking your card so high that you broke the program

And the best thing is- *dies*

They might not need to patch, but I think they will hold out just in case, because even though nVidia might not let that much modification to the card from reference, there will always be those one or two that might have obscure problems that they don't want to force people to patch for...

Not sure why everyone is getting so worked up over a benchmark. It will come out when it does and then it can be used for the only thing that I find it useful for...the pretty demos and pictures.

Its not just a way of life, its a religion - who here has prayed at the altar of "please don't crash, please don't crash, just let me finish the high detail lobby!"?

Yeah I know your 3DMark score doesn't mean anything, but I'll still go to great lengths to have a nice high one! I think it goes back to our predatory days, where we must one-up each other. Amid the seas of grunts, farts and scratches, the man with the largest 3DMark score is king
