Adding performance ram to slow ram

I currently have two sticks of Samsung PC2700 DDR ram that came with my Dell computer (two years old). I plan to add a gig. Will it make a difference if I add performance ram (such as OCZ Premier Series) or should I simply get value ram from Best Buy or something? I know that the speed will be limited to the slowest ram (333mhz), but will the quality of the ram be affected too?

Alternatively, should I remove the 512mb of slow ram and only have 1gb of fast ram? Or will it be better to keep both and have 1.5gb of slow ram?

i'd just use the fast gb of ram, the old 512mb might not be compatable with the fast stuff.

Agreed better to invest in some decent PC3200 DDR400 RAM in a 2x512 and just get rid of the old 2700 stuff.Depending on your setup you would prolly benefit by running the 1 Gig in Dual Channel over the 1.5 Gig at a slower speed
