G3 & G4 iMac Upgrades

TechnoWarehouse recently announced price reductions of $25 on each of their iMAXpowr upgrades. The 500MHz G3 upgrade is now only $174 after a $25 rebate for returning your old Apple processor core. The G4 upgrade is now only $274 after rebate.

Users upgrading with iMAXpowr should experience a performance boost of 2.5 times or greater. While both upgrades work well with OS 9.x and all versions of OS X, the G4 upgrade performs especially well under OS X 10.2 as Jaguar is optimized for the G4 chip.

TechnoWarehouse has also created bundles with MCE Technologies' iCD-RW for users wanting to upgrade both their processor and their CD. Now you can double your computer's performance and burn your own CDs. The G3/iCD-RW bundle is priced at only $369, while the G4/iCD-RW bundle is $469.

"One thing people tend to overlook is that these upgrades come with a full megabyte of backside cache and that makes a huge difference in performance.

When testing real world applications under OS X 1.2, our 433MHz G4 upgrade outperformed a 600Mhz PPC G3 CX processor, and it did nearly as well under OS 9.2 – proving once again that processor speed is only part of the performance matrix!" said Terry Unrein of TechnoWarehouse.

My dad works at apple.

Having knowledge in apple's all my life, I have always fixed and upgraded them.

I have used many of the Sonnet upgrades and can say that these guys are the supreme when upgrading a mac.
