Heh that's the exact same camera I borrowed from a friend to use at Comdex It's rather sweet I must say. Great video quality and pretty decent sound. Takes firewire and RCAs.

If you are looking at camcorders, I currently have a Sony TRV-30 and love it. Its priced somewhat higher than what you are looking at, but I can safely say that the SonyTRV-27 is around what you are looking for and, in my opinion, is a better camera for sound and video in a miniDV format, though the stills are most definitely not the high point of this camera (for stills you should be getting a different, separate digital camera...)

Thanks guys, I ended up grabbing the JVC for an awesome price. I know the Sony was better but it was more than twice the price. I also grabbed a 4 year warranty that even covers the LCD screen(playing it safe). The cam rocks though, movies look awesome and pics come out very good. It will take me sometime before I learn everything this thing can do.

jvc is alright, but if you want the best digital camcorder, go with canon, they make the number one best optics system in the world. Great camcorders.

I checked out the Canon cams but they were all too 'cute' looking for me. The styling totally turned me away
