FPS problem in CS (1.6)

I'm having FPS drops in Counter-Strike 1.6. It wasn't like this before, and shouldn't be like this now. Every time I meet 5+ people the FPS goes down from 100 to about 70/80, and sometimes my FPS just jumps around. This started a few days ago (or weeks, not sure).

Speccs:
CPU: AMD 3000XP
VPU: ATI X800XL
RAM: 1 GB
OS: Windows XP

I use Reforce to run CS @ 100 HZ. I use ATI OmegaDrivers and ATI Catalyst together.
- Display driver: Catalyst 5.8 (without CATALYST Control Center and Control Panel)
- Control Panel: ATI Tray tools (from OmegaDrivers)
A few weeks ago I installed the OmegaDrivers (build 2653). In the start everything was good, but later (as I said) I got FPS drops in CS. Yesterday (aug. 31) I installed the ATI Catalyst 5.8 Display Driver (in an attempt to mix Omega and Catalyst). Didn't help.

So now I've got a mix of drivers, but I don't think it's because of the mix that i get FPS jumps/drops. I got the jumps/drops before I mixed the Omega and Catalyst.

In other games my FPS is good and all (CS:S, HL 2, Doom3), only in CS 1.6 I am getting the jumps/drops, so I guess it has something with the settings to do.

Very thankful for any help.

CS 1.6 dude, if you DON'T look at ur FPS and put v-sync, you will never notice your FPS jumps... God seriously from 100-70 is nothing. And you seem very vague with your post (it started a few days or weeks ago)... Comon, what did YOU change on the PC... Anything? Hardware? Software? Etc...

My Vertical Sync is off. But I must underline that I got to have 99 FPS all the time, never changing. It's about me hitting or not. I maintain my PC well, so it's not about a messy harddisk.

I haven't changed anything mayor in the last days (except for my Antivirus, but I changed it back). Maybe I should reinstall the drivers.

To Neon: The guide is all about setting up your PC for gaming, right? But mine is set up... There's just something that's not right which is fucking those few FPS's which I need so bad.

EDIT: I have to add that CS ran on 99 FPS with my old VPU (GeForce 4 TI 4800) on my older PC some years ago.

I haven't tried it, but I'll do it now.

EDIT: I see it's based on Catalyst 5.6 which is old, but what the hell, I'll give it a shot.
