I just upgraded to a 3.2e and it seems like my temps are just insane. Here are my temps, keep in mind I have a Zalman 7000 all copper cpu heatsink, a 90mm fan blowing into the case, a 90mm fan that blows right onto the cpu area, a 120 exhaust, and my enermax is a 2 fan design that blows out the case. I also live in southern california with no ac and it is around 84F in my room even at 11pm. It has been getting to be 95+ in the day.
And for some reason whenever I open a web page, well for some reason opening driverheaven.net in opera makes my cpu go to 50%! or play a game temps go up drastically!!! i mean by like 15-20c in a few seconds. what is the deal? ambient temps are 37c and 38c CPU has been idle at 49-54c !!! omg why so high? GPU now idles at aroun 54c when it used to be 49c when i play a game my gpu temps read from ati ccc jump to like 77-80c within a min, and my cpu jumps up in speed too. What is the deal. CPU temps seem normal for a prescott in those ambient temps. They run very hot. What heatsink are you using? Stock? What did you upgrade from? The GPU temps probably went up with because of the cpu and ambient temps. Stock cooler on the gpu?

for your CPU, those temps are perfectly fine. Having the same chip, those temps you mentioned are perfectly fine at idle. And your load temps are fine as well going up 15c-20c in temperature.

Those are about what I get on my P4 3.2, also.
The BIOS update is a good idea to check out. I have my warning set to 80 C and have never had a temp warning yet. I'm on totally stock cooling, too. |

Well after worrying about these high temps, and before I had a chance to check back on what your guys feedback was, I decided I was gonna bite the bullet and buy a zalman vga cooler. To match my zalman cpu cooler of course!
So i bought the new all copper VF700-cu. And all I can say is wow this has been the best thermal upgrade I have ever made! here are my findings. X800xt pe with stock - 55C Idle 80C load (playing hl2 or fable) X800xt pe with zalman - 35-37C Idle 54-55C Load (playing hl2 or fable) *keep in mind I always have had the zalman 7000cu for the cpu cpu before vga cooler - 50C idle 70-80C load cpu with vga zalman - 44C idle 60-62C load Are these incredible results or what? So are these good temps to have now? |
