I don't know much about either of these motherboards, and from the looks of things you are looking at 850E's with RDRAM... why? I can recommend several very good 845PE DDR boards that are out right now, and granite bay and that other one (springdale if I recall correctly) are just around the corner with even more ddr action... If you decide to go for an 845PE, I would suggest the Abit BE7-G or the IT7MAX 2.0 boards. I have worked with both of them, and they both work incredibly well...

Main reason for the 850 chipset, is money. I already have 512mb of RD-RAM and buying a 845 chipset board would mean an extra 200$ in memory. The Granite Bay is supposed to be flawed. The Springdale and the Granite Bay boards are just flat-out too expensive. My budget is 400$ and I wanted to get a videocard, so that plus a new board would do it.

Definitely Asus.
My PS533 (different chipset..I know) was a great board and never had any problems with it but just a small annoyance. I think I'm pretty set on these boards now. If as you couldn't tell by my signature. |

You really think the Asus is worth it? I mean I know it's an Asus and it supports HTT, but the Giga-byte has RAID & ATA133.

Does the Maxtor HD in your rig. support ATA133?
Edit: Duh, helps if I read. Are those the only HD's you have? Which drive do you this is faster that you have? |

Dom you might find this review interesting.
http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...,514796,00.asp How much for the Gigabyte board? Update: I just read the full review...ah I'm leaning more towards the Gigabyte now. You can buy a USB 2.0 controller...whooo big deal..right? |
