Black bars side & bottom of screen
I've got a black bar running down the right hand side and along the bottom of my screen. If I fully expand my browser window the 'x' button disappears.
How do I get rid of them?? I've got the latest Omega drivers installed. Specs: 2.8G P4, ATi 9600 Pro, 200G Seagate Barracuda SATA, 2*512 DDR400, Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 rev. 2.0, 17" compaq crt. It's really starting to bug me. I've played around with screen res. etc but they're still there. |

What resolution are you running at?

on my moniter, and id have to assume on most other moniters along with the stretching option there is also a few others, mainly two others to move the screen horizontal and verticle before you strech it, just eye it up so the black bars r uqual on left, right, top, and bottom, then stretch to fit.
have u changed your refresh rate at all recently, or may be sumthin else has? a GPU driver update? in my experiance with my moniter running say 1024*768 @ 85 refresh rate and going to 1024*768 @ 60 refresh will cause the screen to bungle all up like that. |

OK, moved the screen about and stretched it etc. Looked perfect, but when I resize the browser window the 'x' disappears off the screen entirely, rather than into the black bit (which of course is no longer there).
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() At least I have a full screen again.

I think you guys aren't understanding his problem completely... from what I gather, he had black bars *covering* part of his desktop on the edges of the screen, and stretching the screen makes the black bars go off the screen along with his desktop.

Thats it exactly! I'm just really crap at explaining myself, sorry. ![]() The black bars seem to cover part of my desktop that I should have access to. I was just playing around with the monitor, and when I zoom right out ,you know how you can see where your desktop should be cos there's a little bit of distortion, well I see that round the edge of these damn bars! Left vertical and top are perfect, the other 2 sides not. |

Well the black bars are still there, even though I fried my 9600Pro and am now using a completely different card.
I'd convinced myself it was the gf card, but it now seems not.

has it always been like that or just recent??? if just recent....do y'all think he should try a system restore in case he got to messing with the wrong setting somewhere it'll reset him to before he got to fiddling with buttons...and if that doesnt help, try to roll back the driver for monitor? see if generic windows monitor driver will fix, or are u using wrong(plug and play monitor)display driver for monitor? richy ya may wanna wait and see what they come up with before u try my suggestions. i had to use system restore today and fought it for an hour to get pc to boot again<NUKE>
