Well I got a Radeon 8500 LE 128 MB today and I installed it properly because everything picked it up.
Next after Windows XP booted I put in the driver CD that came with it and installed it. After it installed I restarted the computer of course and Windows Booted up I logged in and soon as I logged in I got startup errors for many vitial start-up programs such as taskmanager and rundll.exe each one said soething (1234x2344 is not it properity with somthing) soon after I clicked OK everything closed and I was left with the desktop and everythinfg but everything moved slow. So I went into Safemode and uninstalled the ATI driver. I went to the site where I bought it off of and it told me not ot use the driver that came with the card because it was corrupt with Windows XP. So I went to ATI's site and D/Led the latest XP driver and did the same stuf with the old driver and the samething happened. What Do I do or how can I fix this ongoing problem. Thanks so much P.S sorry if this post was in the wrong thread. |

Could you post a little more error information? Exactly what did it say? At what point does the error happen? What version driver was on the CD, and what version driver did you download? Are you sure it was called rundll.exe, as I don't have anything like that on my XP system right here, and therefore is most obviously not a vital process (perhaps it was a virus? run a virus scan...) Anyway, post with more details...

rundll.exe
I think is a driver loading proceedure call or something, but I'm pretty ignorant on XP. Did you un-install your old video card or disable on-board video before installing? Could you describe to us how you went about installing it from a couple of steps earlier? Maybe we can find the problem.

The application failed to intialize properly(0xc0000142) click Ok to terminate the application |

Ah good ol' ati2dvag.dll is at it again. I had the exact same problem with my Radeon 9000. I fixed it by getting a GeForce4 :-D.
But you can try installing DirectX 9 because I think it installs an updated version of ati2dvag.dll. I'm not so sure but it's worth a shot! |

Well I just settled for re formatting my hard drive and now the card and the drivers work perfectly!!!..
The problem was that the boot.ini was bad and there was many bad windows XP system files. |
