Help me choose a monitor

I'm going to replace my ageing monitor, and I have space restrictions (depth) at my new house. I'm thinking a 19' LCD is the way to go.

I'm looking at a Viewsonic VX924 (4ms) as one option; any other suggestions?

I'm particularly interested to know how people are finding the performance of these monitors in games. I've yet to actually see one one on the job.

Thanks in advance

before you decide have a look at the Samsung SyncMaster 930BF if it's available at where you live.
having both 930BF and 730BF's (17"). i think its quality and prices are just right for this product. i spent about an hour at the store and let's them put the monitors in comparing with about 3-4 of other products and models (but there was no Viewsonic you mentioned), then i decided to buy just one so i can try it out at home. i found at first that it was too bright when using a digital mode input then after a few adjustments it seems to be lots better and become to like it real soon so i called the store for more later. i also think, the 730BF is very good for a dual screen setup, may be because the screen size is right for my needs. and may be for a dual system setups as well with its ability to switch video signal or input mode between analog and digital but i have not tried them yet.

Thanks for the info. I've heard good things about Samsung LCD's from other people. I'll google that model and see what's up.

Search posts by myself, Tipstaff, and Judas over the past six months or so - you'll get some good monitor information on both CRTs and LCDs, with recommendations that might help.

19" LCD monitors are the sweet spot price-wise right now too...

I have the 19" VX924 and it's the best monitor I have used. It makes BF2 look so good and very very little ghosting. It's so close to a CRT you almost can't tell a difference as long as you use the DVI connection! That monitor is very bright, crisp and everything you would think you need.

It's cheap now!

i remember i have checked out some of LGs, BanQ, Sony, HP, Acers and Samsung's.
a few of BanQ, Sony got something that the sales lady called clear view, and i did not like them at all. i think those screens are look too glassy, colors are not natural (can't really explain. lol) and LGs and Acers got some low brightness specs. then i saw the Samsung's, she told me it was the newest models at the time. so i told her to compare it with a few of others. all monitors used the analog input but my wife and i can see the different right away. that's how i bought it. i think you ought to go to the store and compare them several brands. i hate shopping myself but last time i had someone else did the shopping/buying the computer stuff and got some bad experiences. so this time i decide to do it myself at least i can live with it. lol.
anyway, hope you get what you like and good luck with the new monitor (whatever model you decide to buy)

I've been surfing around checking out both Sansung and Viewsonic. Both seem to be pretty damn good.

Tomorrow I've got a comp shop that's going to let me have a play with both on the same rig: I'll let you know how it goes
