DVD Drives not accissble after install

Hi!

After installing the kx drivers my DVD drives were gone.. so I unsinstalled the drivers again and after a reboot the drives were still not accessible. I can see the drives in the windows device manager but they all have a "!" icon next to their names (even my virtual drive!). The properties dialog of a drive says that the device driver could not be initialized.
Any ideas how to fix that?

thanks,
Martin

One way that nearly always works for me: Go into Safemode and then to the Device Manager. Remove those devices and then reboot and let Windows redetect the drives.

Did you change anything in the bios before or during your installation of the kx audio drivers, or Windows assignments of IRQ/DMA?

i remember reading someting about virtual drive and things like (but nothing mentioned about the sound drivers). this was in Alcohol's support forum, just can't find it now. i've not using this software for years now. so check this out.
in the mean time, try removing the sound drivers, then remove the drives in Windows and from the PC. once you are in Windows again re-install the sound drivers, then shutdown and then attach the drives back in, and restart the PC.
wonder if this will help. or otherwise some registry may need to be modified.

I have had driver vanish on me before maybe it was just a fluck that it happend during KX install, There is a issue with XP and Optical drives..it's happend to me before. But I can't remeber how I fixed it..had something to do with removing registry entires though. That might be the issue but might not run a search on the internet might help.
