Can I get wireless Broadband for my desktop?
If a laptop and a cell phone can have access to wireless broadband internet why can't my desktop? I wouldn't have to deal with this lousy cable tv/internet for a sideline making profit constantly breaking down service. Really why hasn't anyone put this wireless broadband to use in a desktop? Or have they and I just don't know about it? I can't get DSL as I am just a car length beyond the distance limit. The cable internet here is really horrible you never know when it is going down. I live on the East Coast the tech Support is in Vancouver,BC. At times the system is down here and even they don't know why. So if I could get this wireless broadband for my desktop It would be great.

If a Laptop connects to a Wifi access hotspot, all a desktop needs is a suitable Wifi interface (PCI card or USB). Mind you, a pooled access point shared by many users is going to end up pretty slow.
You could probably couple 3G cellphone access to a desktop, but that kind of connection is usually expensive on time or bandwidth usage charges. |

look into an AirCard from local cellphone providers, I know that here it's offered through Verizon(owned by vodaphone), Nextel(owned by Sprint), and Cingular(owned by bellSouth, and who recently obught up AT&T Wireless).
