I am in the same board. I benchmark way more than I game. I spent over $400 on watercooling stuff last year, just for slightly higher benchmarks

I never bother benchmarking other than for stability testing and to make sure my system is running as it should.
I have better stuff to do with my time/money in real life...

I gotta agree with zelig, although if a benching app doesn't run properly or constantly crashes, then I'm concerned :hnn:

Absolutely, benchmarking is good for stability tests. If the drivers look and play better that is all that matters to me.

I've discovered something long ago.....if I don't bench my system, I don't really notice how low framerates are in some games (to a certain degree). So I don't really bother to benchmark anymore.
I mean, a game will look nice and smooth to me as I'm playing, but if I turn on FRAPS and see low framerates, then I notice the low frames and get annoyed. I just avoid the whole annoyance and don't worry about how many FPS's I get. |
