Hey M8,
I've got the same dilema, but I'm looking at staying with Intel. I still think they have the edge! 3.4 (775) with HT is good value and performance. But I have not decided on the mobo yet.......Good luck

How series of an overclocker are you? Do you want the absolute max out of your overclocks, then a DFI Ultra-D would be my choice. If not, but still want a good board, Asus A8N IMO.

I'm not too serious of an overclocker, but I still want to overclock a little bit. I'll check out those motherboards that you said.

Even if you're not a serious overclocker, give it a good look.

Maybe you could provide a link to the DFI board, there are so many, and I get confused really easily
.

memory seem to be a decent buy unless you overclock then I'd personally
be looking at a little higher then PC3200. Rember the new CPUs have new deviders if you board bios will support them. might consider getting a X800XL tis a bit more, though the X800GTo supposed to be highly modable if you plan to do that then, right on!

Basicly, what I'm trying to do is, make a PC that will give the biggest bang for my buck, so do you think that I will be able to get the most out of the parts that I've chosen?

best bang for the buck would probably be a 3000+ venice. Thats if you want the most performance per $$

There's different levels of bang/buck.
There's an overall bang/buck and there's also high-end bang/buck. I changed from a X800XL to a 7800GT because it was better bang/buck for higher end.The X800GTO will serve you for a year and a half for so before games really show their need for more power. In my opinion, you should wait 3 more weeks before upgrading. X1800 series are coming and prices etc are going to shift pretty radically. You may even be able to get a X1600XT (If that exists and rumors about mainstream cards shipping first) on launch day. Here's the product page for the DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D and here's TechReport's review on it. If you want more opinions, check out AnandTech and HardOCP for their takes on it. Be sure to note that these reviews are quite old and BIOS changes have occurred. As for processor, keep the X2 3800+. You won't regret it. Multi-tasking would be amazing. Oh as for the RAM, don't fork out too much money unless you have to. PC3200 is fine, there's no shame with running a divider.
