Power Supply Question: Need Quick Advice!
Here are the specs for my PSU:
Do you think this is enough juice for two Raptors, a DeskStar, two CD drives, 4 case fans, 2 Gigs of RAM, an EE Pentium 4, and an X850XT? Seems like I might be cutting it a bit close, so I am considering this one: Note the big swing in the 5v category, 40 vs 28 amps... TIA rasta

NO!!!!! c'mon dude. 15A on the 12v rail? you're seriously under powering all your equipment! Any PSU w/more than 22A on the 12v rail will do MUCH better for you. Not only that, you will be able to OC higher
![]() EDIT: nm, i just saw it had 2 12v rails. one at 15A and the other at 16A. i guess that is sufficient. what brand is your PSU? a generic PSU that came w/your case? |

yea dude, go w/the antec PSU. it's a much better choice over what you have in your rig right now. just keep that PSU lying around as a back-up PSU or for another rig or something. always nice to have another one as a back up just in case you know?

you delete your posts in the edit window
![]() as for the PSU, go for the well known brands - most of the time you'll be drawing cleaner power and have a more efficient PSU. IIRC the Antec you mentioned is also quite a quiet model

Here's a link to a review of the PSU I have in my gaming rig. I've been very pleased with it so far. This has been in here for several months now. It's the SOYO Raptor 400W and comes with a cool monitoring panel that fits in one of the front CD bays. It allows you to make adjustments right from the front panel.

I'm a fan of Fortron so, that would be my recommendation. Its cheaper, and that are one of the best built power supplies out there.

IMO, an generic. Jober part has it's specs blown outa purportion... your asking for trouble if you figure "saving" a few bucks here will save you bucks in the end, when actually, 99% of the time, it cost you either twice or 3 times as much sadly.
In any case. Brand names are good, or should be, there are always going to be your "sony" products out there that are crap but "brand name" and costs all your limbs to get it. I'm in a fight with Ultra Produst atm over there pos 500 watt psu. So caution there, Enermax makes excellent psus, antec, Sparkle are probably your BEST cheap PSU you can probably ever find. and of course, the almight OCZ PSUs
