You got a new CPU too, huh? I just got an XP2100 Palamino/Abit KX7-333R motherboard/PC2700 DDR/WinXP. That's up from my old rig: AMD Athlon 1.33/Abit KT7A-RAID/PC133 ram/Win98se.

I also got a "bonus" upgrade, from an SB Live! 5.1 to an SB Audigy!

So far, I'm with the transition.

Ain't it fun to go faster, faster, faster?

For my next upgrade, I'm gonna get an XP2400 Thoroughbred CPU because this one is just a loaner from my brother. I'm also considering going from 512megs of PC2700(also loaned) to 1gig of PC2700 so my PC will match the other 2 in the house.

Now I have to start learning to tweak XP. It's my job to tweak the OS's in the house.

Heh, unfortunately I'm already in that situation. Have been since I got into PC's. But, I have a brother that provides me with hardware, so I guess I'm somewhat obligated to tweak at least his PC's when I find a good tweak. Only fair. I mostly just take care of family.

As for friends.......well........I really don't have any. Sad but true.....

I get a kick out of upgrading PC's or surfing the forums, even more than playing games on the PC's or going out anymore. What I really need to do is get off my butt and go to college to become a PC tech "officially".

I can't wait until you mess up something installing the processor general. I just am waiting for it. We all know that something is going to go wrong when you do it.

btw, i probably won't overclock anyway. It's just good to know how, and i can guarentee you it won't get hurt when i am putting it in. It's not a very hard thing to put in a processor.

Well, since you're using a K7S5A, I don't really see how you could. Which is not to say that's a bad board. But, still, unless you have a hacked BIOS (yes, they exist for this board), you have no overclocking options.

yea i need to install that. I only got 2500 more points on 3d benchmark, which gives me 8000. But that was with the processor just out of the box and the video card not overclocked.

OK shmuck, come on. I saw that my clock said 11:45 so I said something...I'm just waiting for something to go wrong. After hearing about the prank phone call you and your kid friends did I have lost a lot of faith in you. And also do you mean that your parents are going to buy you the best motherboard. Because the fact that you are 15 years old you either have NO job or just are making miniumum wage.

ok... number one... you said something about 20 seconds after eurolu, thought i would point that out. Next... i was just kidding about the 15 minutes left. I would have done the same. And as i have said, nothing went wrong with my processor. It's in and it's working fine. Although the heatsink it came with sucks. And also, 2 months from now is my birthday. We have big whole family parties so i get money, and since i am turning 16 i will probably get a lot. So that is how i am planning on getting the best motherboard i can buy (with the money i have)
