Problem resolved!
We used a different 12V (we were really at our wits' end here) on the off chance it'd work. Booted, no joy. Reset the CMOS and suddenly the hidden 'Work, Dammit' option in the BIOS is enabled and it boots in about 5 seconds. Joy is us! Many thanks for all the help we've received in getting this sorted. If nothing else, it was a valuable learning experience, and the UBCD will ALWAYS be useful. =) Thanks again! -- Awesomino |

Sorry CD, that link worked for me fine this past Friday (just got around to getting the latest basic ISO), but glad you found a mirror...
And yes, the 'work dammit' option sure does come in handy eh? I have to keep a 'go-devil' (combination sledgehammer on one side and hatchet on the other) for such uses. My bios isn't as full-featured as yours...
