Program to cool an idle CPU
So I have this new XP2100 Palamino and it runs too fucking hot...50-53C idle with my volcano 9 at 4200rpm and ASIII. I need this thing to be cooler whenever it possibly can be. I tried CPUCool but it would hard lock my machine when I used something that would require a lot of CPU usage. I downloaded WPCredit.....but I couldn't figure out SH|T with that program.
Anyone know of a proggie to cool my idle CPU?

I'd be interested in the same type of program.

Does it run that hot at full load or at idle?- Also, my MB has a heat sensor that is actually touching the back of the cpu underneath it. Most MB's have a sensor that is on the motherboard, not actually in contact w/ tha CPU. I am not sure if your MB has one like that but it's a Gigabyte so it might. I have read many articles about how motherboards lke mine can read higher that other motherboards at the same temperature.
Also, are you using Arctic silver3? I dropped at least 6 degrees when I started using that stuff. Got any fans on the side of your case blowing in? Or a blowhole on top bowing out? It makes a huge difference in my box. It was cheap too- Those 2 90mm fans make a big difference. Something you could try. see the little brown tab sticking up where the back of the cpu would be? that tab contains the thermal sensor- I can see why it would read hotter than other methods-- 50 degrees isn't that hot, is it?

Is your motherboard a ga-7VAX? in your sig it says AVX. Must have been a typo? Anyway, it might just be a more accurate sensor.

I have the GA-7VAX. I used CPUCool and it did lower my temps about 15C when idle, but it would freeze up when something took a good portion of CPU usage.

Yeah, I bet too, but the prob is that 295 on the GPU core is all it does. I've tried several differnt fans on it. Even a 60mm 5000rpm CPU fan....that didn't work. I actually think that the GPU doesn't get too hot. I just think once I go to 294-300mhz it just spits out garbage. Granted the GPU is really hot, I do fing it hard to believe that a 60mm 5000rpm fan can't cool the GPU any better than the stock 10CFM fan on it.

I already have 1 80mm 2500rpm intake at case front.....1 92mm 2600rpm exhaust under the PSU......42CFM slot exhaust under the vid card....... I typically would have a 60mm 5000rpm case fan on the side..but it died....

SO fuck all those programs. I even downloaded CPUidle Pro, VCool, and COOLCpu, they all freeze up randomly when something tries to draw too much CPU usage. I see no point in running these programs. Most of them hard lock the computer (even the mouse) when I open up internet explorer. Maybe I could actually use these when the CPU is idle and I am sleeping..but otherwise these programs were a waste of time.

But can you use VCool even when you are surfing the net? I can't. It hard locks whenever I do something the utilizes the CPU too much. I can't find anything to run while I do normal day to day surfing.
