LG CDRWs

i just bought a 48x black LG cdrw and was wondering whether LG makes their own or if they're just LITEON ones with different casing...
like if tehy are liteons, could i update the firmware using liteon's stuff?

99% Certain that LG are their own.

There can also be differences between LG and the "HLDS" variant OEM drives

The firmware numbering scheme also bears no relation - Liteon rebrands tend to have a 4 character alphanumeric firmware version, the same system or slightly re-arranged on some.
