DVD-RW Problems...

I recently purchsed a Lite-On SOHW-1693S and I've been having some problems with it. It's not very consistent in when it works or doesn't. DVD's I have burned with data on them will work flawlessly on my roommates computer but not on mine. Sometimes it will read the data and work perfectly, other times not. What keeps crossing through my head from something I read before was my power supply. I have a Shuttle SNG95v3 with 2 HDs and an ATI 9800XT. I'm wondering if the DVD-RW can't operate properly or something. When I installed new firmware and restarted my computer, it worked fine but then when I tried much later to use it the same problem reoccured. Could it have been when I restarted my computer, less power was being used therefore it worked?

Any insights on this?

System Specs

Probably the most definitive thing to do would be to try your optical drive in your friend's computer and see if he gets the same symptoms your are having with it in yours. If so, hopefully the drive is still in warranty and you can RMA it.

If it works fine in his computer, you'll know to come back to your computer to look for the cause.
