Does anyone have this monitor?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824116282
ViewSonic G90FB Black 19" CRT Monitor I am looking for a somewhat inexpensive 19" Flat CRT that can push higher resolutions than my 17".... I love my 17" flat CRT.. It looks great and even though it is 4 yrs old it still looks as good as the day I bought it. 1200x 900 @75hz is the best it will do (at above 75hz), and that is only with Omega drivers. With Stock CATS it is 1152 x 864 @75hz.. Anyway the monitor above can do 1600 x 1200 and higher.. 1600 x 1200 @ 77hz would be fine for games. 1280 x 960 @ 85hz would be good enough for me even. Does anyone have this monitor? If so what do you think about it? Decent bandwidth, great company reputation, solid warranty. Looks like it would be a solid and steady performer. Sorry I've never seen one - but other Viewsonics I have seen look good and have been reliable.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001068 SAMSUNG 997mb-TwoTone Silver-Black 19" CRT Monitor 0.20mm Dot Pitch D-Sub - Retail That one looks good too- more bandwidth (250), but people are complaining of distortion on some of them.. and if it is messed up it will cost a crap load to ship it back and forth for RMA. Actually that Samsung is a lot cheaper. I might just go with that.

I've worked with a crapload of Viewsonics and have never had any issues whatsoever. I wouldn't hesitate on buying one; they're a very solid brand and that looks like a solid monitor.
I've no experience my Samsung products though. |

Cool, I would like the Viewsonic more- but I am kinda broke so I am getting the Samsung.
I called Samsung to see about their warranty, it is a 3 year CRT, parts and labor and there is a service center 5 min away from my house. If there are any problems I can get it fixed w/o paying shipping. There is quite a big difference in price and the Samsung has 250mhz of bandwidth.. looks like it will do just fine. Thanx for all comments. Finally 1280 x 960/ 1600 x 1200 @ playable refresh rates will be mine. ![]() I still love this old KDS X-Flat CRT... (I got a good one)... it still looks great after all these years, but my video card needs more for games. Extra space of higher resolutions and a bigger screen in general for windows will be awesome too.

For me if I wanted the Viewsonic I would have to wait, and I could get the samsung TODAY... So the choice was simple. Glad you like that one, being you know just a little bit more about monitors than the average joe.. I think I will be happy with it.I was searching for info and came across this thread- http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...9571&forumid=1 So I signed up and joined the discussion about this "true black issue"... It will be interesting to see what happens. I'm pretty psyched about this monitor.. I have seen many, and for some reason my cheap monitor looks better than most I have seen, it just won't push the resolution and refresh rates I want. -plus it is getting a little small. Should get the new one early next week.

I've just ordered a Samsung 959NF 19" with Diamondtron tubing. It can do 100Hz at 1280 and has a good reputation on image quality, especially sharpness wich is most important to me. It seems that Samsung may end manufacturing the model fairly soon in favor of its Dynaflat range. The more expensive Diamondtron technology and the extra weight probably makes it tough on the profit now that CRT's have fallen so much in price. I don't really mind that it's heavy though.

Yeah those and the old sony tubes are great. It is hit or miss if you buy them used and someone said the new ones have lower QC and it is hit or miss there too.. Who knows if there is any truth to that. I have a feeling I will be happy if this thing is just not defective in any way.. It is going to look huge to me.
