Since it's been so long since I've had to worry about DirectX, what exactly are the benefits of upgrading to a new version? I know that some newer games force people to upgrade, but does it do anything for current and older games? Anyways, I learned my lesson with DX8 (screwed up my whole system).. I'm gonna wait a while before giving 9 a try.

I would not ever recommend installing any BETA M$ stuff... Just remember that if you install a BETA version of DirectX it is very hard to repair, usually it means re-installing the OS.

Here is a link to the actual page with the download for the DX9 Beta

Make sure you create a system restore point and reboot before installing this

And remember dont install it if youre afraid of having to reload your system

Default Post Got it..

..installed it (sans backup, like I won't be re-installing windows on my box before Aug 20th ), and haven't noticed any performance improvement on my box and my penis is still the same size! I feel cheated!

BTW-They finally fixed the directsound debug level bug, I guess that's something.

Works fine for me as well. Maybe a little performance increase though.
