1 or possibly 2 of my SATA HDD`s are dieing but i cant figure out what one :(
there both maxtor 120g Serial ATA 8meg sata drives.
when i watch a movie i get a few suttering then system freezes then i hear a click then system reboots. i cant figure out what drive is borked becuse im running them under raid 0 where they both combine the maximum size as 1 partition. i had a look on maxtors site and it seems there diagnostic program is only for PATA drives, they dont have support for sata ![]() i also formated my system then formated the sata drives quick then reinstalled the os and all my programs and everything and not one single problem, but when i go to watch a movie from a dvdrom it can randomly crash anywhere on that thing the cpu/memory has been prime95 tested so it cant be those. im seriously fucking sick of pc`s at the moment becuse i cant figure out whats causeing the problem, but i think its one of the hdd`s becuse i hear a loud click then reboot or bluescreen if i disable auto reboot on error ect. |

Power Settings?
Check your power settings. The system may be shutting down HD's as part of your power profile...WinDVD creates its own profile & automagically selects it when you play a movie because of this issue...you can also check DevMan to see if the power settings there allow OS shutdown to conserve power.
rasta P.S. Oh yeah, check those SATA cables...mine don't plug in worth shite...one bump=RAID failure.

hmmm well i use powerdvd v6 windvd sucks :P
its weird becuse i seem to be getting the shutdown click bluescreen error when ever i play a dvd movie it happens mostly playing a movie...... could a faulty dvdrom drive do this ? i set them up as independent drives and formated them both from dos with out a single error. installed the os to first drive without a single error. now if these where indeed faulty drives wouldnt they have clicked when installing the os or formating ect ? |
