GPU starting to die?

Hiya guys,

Last couple of days I've been getting some texture corruption, tearing etc in games and its slowly getting worse, and im now getting some weird stuff in windows occasionally:

reckon my 9500pro is finally giving up the ghost after 3 years of loyal service? ive tried taking it out and cleaning it off, the fan is working fine, altohugh the card does feel hotter to touch than i remember, anyway, have put a 120mm fan on top of it and that doesnt help, oh and have tried underclocking it significantly too, also no effect.

so, shall i let the poor thing rip after so long or has it got a chance to make it till 2006?

System Specs

Try underclocking it a wee bit to see if it helps. I'd suspect the memory first.

Yeah, ive tried that - no difference, well, I think maybe nows the time to start thinking about a nice little bit of upgrading - theres something quite fun about being loyal to this card for so long but its taken quite a beating I suppose. Maybe a shiny new DFI NF4 board, 64bit CPU (anyone know if theres gonna be a cheaper dual core coming soon - something in the £150 - £200 range) and a nice high end card

Try to flash new BIOS or try 9500nonpro, maybe it helps for 2D.
For your price range there are x800GTO2 who can be mooded to x850XT(PE)

ooh, now that is an interesting idea. its had a modified 9700pro bios for almost all its life so that it could be overclocked (anyone remember warp11), so its recognised as a 9700pro although its only got a 128bit mem bus. hmm, maybe trying a nonpro bios would help - im guessing nonpro was only 4 pixel pipes instead of 8 so maybe if some of them is whats gone then maybe thatd help - not sure if its worth it right at the moment but maybe ill have a fiddle if/when ive got other hardware incase i mess up
