hi all i just started having a problem .just had my pc rebuilt about 2 months ago had a asus k8n-e deluxe mother board put in, and a atholon 64 prosseser 2.4 i put in ,and a 600 watt power supply put in, and a ati x800xl video card put in, been playing bf2 and spearhead just got cod2 was playing yesterday problem free my son was playing today and while playing my cp shuts down like someone pulling the plug from the wall happened about 5 times once while just surfing checked the surge protector its not that i pluged it directly into the wall .i do not know alot about ati cards and was wondering if any one else ever heard of a problem like this .i was looking through the forums and did not see anything like this and i know there is a way to show the temp of the video card if anyone knows would appreciate the help thanks morbius

You can see the temprature of the gpu in the overdrive section of the video card settings.

I had the fan stop working on my Asus X800XT recently and the pc worked fine for 2D but whilst playing any games after around 2-5 mins the sound stuttered, the screen went black then the picture came back on then the PC reset itself. I used Everest to tell me what the temperature was.
I also had a shutting down problem sometime ago and it turns out (after replacing the CPU, Mobo and trying another graphics card) it was actually a faulty power supply. |

it sounds to me like it is either a temp problem or a power problem. install Asus probe and have it record the temps for you. it will keep track and just see what your cpu and mobo temps are. it will also record fan speeds and voltages to see if you are getting serious voltage drops or an increase in temps before your cpu shuts down.
