just built a 4800+ dual core SLI system

me and my buddy built his christmas present (no i'm poor guys, i cant afford that stuff). its insanely fast and a bitch to wire. fastest computer i have ever built and foolder around with. we didnt finish all updates i might head back there and do it

crazy computer sickens me

4800+ dual core
a8n-sli premium
2gb ddr400 (didnt go for premium memory i don't know why)
2x7800gt's
some crazy dragon case, i wasn't feeling but has 500w
4x320gb SATAII seagates
1x36gb raptor
x-fi platinum (connected by optical to nuance system that's maybe nearly $9000 CDN or maybe more)
dual viewsonic 191b monitors

he won't even use it since he's going to uni, his dad types amazingly slow he says and is a doctor. he doesnt game, he isnt a geek we all hate geeks. but completely uneccessary purchase IMO

yea i like ati better too.... but SLI is simply better. and if its dual core SLI, screw everything is crap.

lol. the only thing i'd improve in that rig would be getting 2x7800 GTXs 512Mb. instead of getting 5 HDDs, i'd get like 3 and the money saved would be put towards the better gfx cards

he is going to have a crazy projector going with his nuance 5.1 system. we weren't able to get it working at 96khz though when we used the optical connection, only at 48khz. it was wierd. but those speakers go above bose or anything, they are specially built

I will be building a similar system. I have only opted for 1 7800GTX OC though and maybe 2 250-300GB SATA II drives in raid 0. But, I will be buying another 2gb of pc3200 to make it 4gb. Should be a nice system with the 26" Widescreen DELL monitor.

X2 do an amazing job at video editing....

or graphic rendering....

it's just weird how Photoshop CS2 simply refuses to make use of both cores to the fullest....
