Differences between Pentium D 830 3.0ghz/Pentium D 840 3.2ghz

If all goes will ill be returning my current system and picking up a Dell XPS with a 7800GTX (Possibly SLI) Theres a 200 dollar difference between the two processors and was wondering if it is worth the price difference?

Probably not.

the only difference is the multiplier, but if you plan to overclock, you can probably take the 830 further based on fsb than the 840 without it overheating too much

great to know thanks, Now hopefully I can get it. ill be saving myself like 1700 dollars and itll be a better computer lol.

Bah NM the Associate Benifits guide for my job made it seem like you can buy a computer through DELL and the money would be automatically taken out of your check every month but thats not the case, youget a measley 5% Discount but you have to either apply for their credit card or have an existing one, If I had an existing one Id build my own!

Just an FYI but the new Presler Dual Core CPU's are out, which are a huge increase in performance from the Smithfield's. Dunno if Dell has them though.

from everything ive seen, AMD dominates the dual core arena...

If i were you, I'd just build one ;-)

Yonahs should start showing up, and from what I have seen they are comparable to X2s clock for clock, and that is with a 133FSB.
