Dual/Double Layer burning woes

I just went to Tiger Direct and bought a 15 spindle of Memorex 2.4x DL disks. I have an LG4163b burner on the machine in my sig, and I just flashed it to the A106 firmware. The firmware is supposed to increase the readability and compatibility of burned disks, and I'd imagine that the drive would support the disks (it says its good up to 4x). I looked on the CDR-Info website and DVD Help and I found out how to look up the info code on the DVD. Turns out they're RiTek disks, which are supposed to work with this drive. The problem is that twice now I've made expensive coasters out of perfectly good disks. I thought the disks were defective so I exchanged them but now I'm getting the same error. At 48% it says "ATP/Seek/Sync Error" and asks if I want to retry. I'm using Roxio Easy Media Creator 8, single layer burning still works fine.

Anyone got any other ideas I might try? I don't want to keep making coasters

No, I haven't but I don't think its Roxio becse Single Layers in Roxio 7 and 8 just fine

1st link gives an error

And LG's website has 106 as the latest and so did that one...makes me wonder if it isn't the media again
