Laptop Shuts Off Every 10 mins

my laptop will run for 10 minutes or so, then shuts off.

I presumed it was dust, or a broken fan, but I've just taken it to bits and tested everything and the fans work fine, so I'm a little stumped.

know less about lappys than desktops, but I've got to use it for college, so somebody please tell me why

Do you have a way to monitor temps? The power pack could also be dying.

you mean the bit that plugs into the wall?

that never occurred to me tbh, would that explain the symtons?

I just cleared the cmos and started putting it back together, so I'll see if that and the clean it got made a difference.

pull the battery out and run it on nothing but A/C Adapter

when batteries die, they will occassionally not charge while in use, and thus report low levels, triggering auto shutdown, even when plugged in. So try it without the battery, and if you know anyone with the same laptop/brand, try their adapter as well.
