lcd backlit bleeding
finaly picked up a 2001fp, and for the most part i love it so far.
problem is though, its got some backlit bleeding. i can live with the little spot off on the left hand corner, seeing as its not too bad. what i am haveing problems with is the bleeding in the top right corner. the longer the monitor is on, the worse the problem seems to get. is there any way to fix this, or am i basicly SOL and need to rma it? if it makes any diffrence, im useing DVI and the monitor is rev A00 made in july of 05.

Mine leaks a tad, too. Common TFT issue. If you think its too much, though, swap it out. Dell is very accomodating about such things.

seeing as i really dont know a whole lot about LCD's, does this seem like an acceptable level of bleeding?

Hmm..mine is quite a bit more even on the lighting. Normally on these panels you'll see a little bit on the corners. However. those two spots in the upper left corner look odd. You might want to add the model to the topic. That way you'll get folks in here who have the same model as you (like myself). Do you have a higher res. camera?

i dont know alot about tft lcds either but i can tell you that i have a 17in envision en7410e that i picked up for 179.00 and dont get any bleeding so far.i would rma the monitor to dell as long as they give you a new one back and not a refurb.later

I owned about 3 or 4 2001fp TFTs over the course of a year (deals and swapouts etc) and they all had a very minor bit of backlight issues much like yours apart from one of the newer dated models. My mate has a 2005 and it is really bad with the top right corner a good tone or two lighter than the rest.
the 2405 however is pretty much perfect so they are improving.... |

yeah you notice it the first week when you move from a CRT, but its not that bad and your eyes adjust. there are technologies such as xblack to counter this but it never really bothered me. ive seen some cheap TFTS and the light leaks are pretty bad.....
