File verifier program?

Okay here is the situation: My dad needs a program that can test a file on a cd (does not have original) to check if the file is un/able to be read, ie is the cd scratched/faded/whatever which causes parts of the file to not be able to be read. Are there an utilities that can do this?

The files in question are pieces of a Powerquest clone of a harddrive onto some cds.
