Cheap on ink...good luck. The HP series aren't bad. I know Epson also have some good models out. I know this isn't much help but I haven't looked at printers in awhile.

for one that's cheap on ink you just cannot beat a Canon PIXMA iP1000
their refills are like 80p a go and to boot, it's cheap, it prints some damn fine prints (I did my family xmas pics on mine), and it's compact. I also have a more expensive HP who's refills are waaaaaaay more pricy, and I can't tell the difference

If you get anything, stay away froim the lexmark printers. They are big, driver support is terrible, and the ink is incredibly expensive. I would go with the HP's or even a Canon.

The new HP's coming out use 35% less ink then previous inkjet technology [any brand]....and also do 4x6 color prints in under 30 seconds.....I know this began with the 8200 Deskjet, and I don't THINK it's worked it's way into the All in One's yet.....but any HP's that use the 3 seperate color cartridges use the new technology......
...as for a current all in one, look at the HP OfficeJet 6210 or the PSC series |

Hp cartridges use disposeable print heads to, mind you...which are the first thing to go out on printers with permanent ones. And are you talking about refilling the ink...or buying new cartridges....cannon's are about 17-8/25-30 BW & color respectively here too

I'm talking buying brand new refill cartriges every time I get them for my canon for ninety something pence a shot, no joke. and near as I can tell it doesn't need refilled any more than the HP either

huh...wish it was that way here...lol
Ink for canon's here, I just checked.....$10 for black, and $12 per color, with there being 3 color tanks...so a full refill is $40. So, while a touch cheaper then an HP ($50-65 for a full refill depending on the model), nothing like it is over there....geez |

printers with seperate cartridges for cyan magenta and yellow are the most cost effective, but some more advanced printers (better quality) use 6 colour carts rather than 3…
