Computer help: concerning hard drives
I'm custom builing my own PC, and I some limited knowlege in some areas I'm hoping you can all help me with. Here are the specs:
Athlon 64 San Diego; 3000+ 1GB Kingston DDR 3200/400mhz (2x512) K8N Neo-Platinum Socket 939 Onboard 7.1 sound Onboard 10/100/1000 Lan Cooler Master ATI Sapphire 512MB x1300 Graphics Card Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NZ Platinum 250GB Western Digital Corsair SATA 3GB *60GB EIDE 7200RPM Hard Drive Here's my question: I want to use the SATA as the master drive and the 60GB as storage. I don't want to degrade my perfromance though. Will installing the 60GB drive degrade my performance when it's used primarily as storage media? |

so long as you treat it purely as a slave drive, windows and everything else will run at whatever performance level as they normally would on the sata drive. |

no performance difference at all like previously stated.
both the SATA and IDE drive will be working independantly of each other as they are both on different hard drive controllers on the MoBo. |
