When will it end? and when is 4 cores not enough? Last month Intel sent us their new 8 Core Xeon X5365 V8 hardware and I have been busy testing on 64 Bit Vista with a wealth of CPU's kindly donated by Intel and AMD.

Read our indepth analysis and start saving those pennies.

The whole multiple apps things is definitely what is of interest, considering most people don't have just one app running at a time, even 3 or 4 apps.

I've seen a few gamers running mutliple games at a time, usually an MMORPG in the background sucking juice while playing say UT2004 or Counter Strike, WHILE burning a dvd or ripping one or something. The ones with multiple displays would probably make even more use of this.

obviously an elitest platform though, i doubt most enthusiast are going to be really Drawn to it, aside from just the interest of the overall power it has.

If the board had unbuffered dimm support, and 2 or more PCI-EX slots (specially 2.0 complaint) and a bios with tweakability, there'd be a bunch of them sold emediately...

Just awesome!!

Now we need the software to fully take advantage of these processors. Intel's hardware just keeps getting better and better.

Looks powerful alright, but where is the support from software developers?

The way things going feels like in 10 years we will be dealing with 100 cores or something lol.

Allan, how's it feel to be in the realm of the immortals?

But, as someone else pointed out, what crossed my own mind is just how quickly can the software developers catch up to all of this? Even in the preview, there just isn't currently any software to push this system to its full potential.

But, it's quite an impressive 'open door' into what the future holds.

Agreed. The fact that it still uses FB-DIMMs, has one PCIe 16x slot are going to draw most enthusiasts away.

I'm curious what the input video format, and the output video resolution was for the AutoGK/Xvid test.

Amazing system for someone who needs a lot of processing power. It would be excellent for finite element analysis with updated software to support 8 threads because for complex structure, it can take hours to compute.

There seems to be a typo :
