DH Review: OCZ ModXstream 780w

OCZ has released a great number of power supply units lately, each targeting a particular market. We had the chance to test several powerful units from their line-up here at DriverHeaven, most of which were top of the line products. Today we will take a look at a more versatile unit, the ModXstream 780W. It offers a little bit of everything; high efficiency and power output combined with good aesthetics and low noise operation. So in theory, the ModXstream unit is the perfect unit for everybody. Sounds a bit too good to be true, doesn’t it?

I must saw I like the new PSU reviews. Dissapointed in the unit still though, I really wish OCZ would drop the Forton units for now, the Epsilon series they are built off aren't the best they have done.

I've never received a OCZ unit without at least 5 black screws

Not a bad psu, but i'd still be nice to get an updated version of the modstreams in 400-500 watt version...

Man, Somedays I wonder if I picked the wrong hobby, its getting more and more expensive.

So now the question is....Enermax Galaxy, or Ultra-X3 1000w?

Personally I'd go with a Enermax Galaxy. The Fortron lines aren't the greatest.

Thankfully, the ridiculous expanding nature of the wattage ratings of power supplies is going to taper off soon enough. Household circuitry should take care of it nicely.

Oh, worry not. As long as there is demand, they can even produce a 10kW unit that has two AC plugs which need to be plugged in different rooms.
