Great review guys! Loved the bus running over those drives haha.

Would of liked to see how the Voyager GT stacked up against the other drives as well... Perhaps some insight could be given? I use the 8GB Voyager GT for Readyboost on my PC.

Thanks CMX.

Corsair stopped retailing GT drives, there is only one series of Voyager/Survivor drives now which are just as fast as the 'older' GT drives. I actually had a Voyager GT into the review which I removed it once I saw that Corsair ended their production too.

Impressive roundup, but lacks A-data PD7 200. A-Data PD7 is smoking fast, has been using a 8GB model for my self, for some time now.

Indeed.

A good review that really covered all of the aspects. I was sure Corsair Survivor, with its long thin body, would break under the weight of a bus, and I didn't expect the minis to be such good performers.

I only wish the not-so-tough drives were put under some sort of durability test, because we all want our portable devices to be durable, but I have always been under the impression that, for the 95% of people who don't care if their flash drive can survive a plane crash, most ordinary drives will do just as well; in other words, while a bus would destroy them (just like it destroyed one of the tough drives, slightly damaging the others), they could take falls from normal heights and a bit of rain wouldn't "kill" them either. So I wish there was at least a soaking test for those drives so I'd find out whether I were right or wrong.

I understand, however.

Yes I know, always a "however" !

This took grace several weeks of her time and in that time she is unable to review anything else basically, so we had to stop somewhere. Hopefully that makes sense. Of course we could put each drive under different stress tests etc, but all of them are able to withstand a minor fall and a daily "in the pocket" scenario, unless they are marketed for endurance I don't really see the need to start subjecting each drive to various tests.

Thanks for the feedback, glad you guys like the review. We can maybe hire a plane for the next one?

superb job Grace
be honest, how much fun did you have running the things over with a bus

quite fancey a SuperTalent Pico myself. not type C though, had bad experiences with flash drives with exposed connectors like that.

thoroughly good job , and I'm dead impressed with the Survivor for 'surviving' the bus

i find that ever usb flash drive i've ran into seems to have it's own personality..

for example i've had 3 8gb ocz rally2's.... all of which sustained 30mb/s transfers for alot of small and large files.. however depending on the system, it would drop down to about 20mb/s... and on some system (usually ATI or Nvidia chipsets) it would occasionally come down to 2mb/s transfers..... randomly for no apparent reason.... things would flip flop.. but it wasn't a high occurance..

this also occurs with a ton of the other usb flash drives i've used.

either way.... i'm very fond of my 8gb flash drive...... excellent for doing the high priority tasks i need to do.

Wonder what my motley assortment would do, mostly PNY standard drives.

The fastest drives use dual channel flash with fast chips, the next level down in speed may be dual channel with less exotic chips, followed by single channel fast and then single channel normal, getting down to what you might call "standard grade" USB2 flash.

Best designed of all the drives I have is my old 256MB USB1, with write protect switch and a quick release buckle to the lanyard (actually, I should transfer that lanyard to one of my other drives).

As for my PNY Attache drives, the cap is a poor feature, with no positive latching when on or stowing when removed - on one it is very loose.

I'd like more drives in the round-up myself but that would require even more time for the review. Maybe next time.

Thanks guys!

Thanks guys!
I might have to pick one of those up for my everyday use... I love my 8GB.

Great review none the less Grace

Good review and choices

I do wish I could actually find these at local big name retailers like BB or CC.
Also wish Sand Disk drives and Sony drives were on there. Especially since I have those ones . Sony's drive also comes with compression software.
