DH Review: Motherboard Round-Up August 2008
Read The Review Here
___________________ Today we will be comparing eight motherboards for Intel processors and showing how each performs as well as looking at the features they have to offer. Tests include gaming, media playback, image manipulation and more, so by the end of the article we should be a bit better placed to know which chipset or board is ideal for consumers using Intel processors. |

Great review on the boards and chipsets. The only question I had left was how the different boards performed with Crossfire and SLI. There are so many choices of chipsets and seeign real numbers of which the P45 or x45 perform best for crossfire.

I miss my board in the lot: Asrock Penryn1600SLIX3-WiFi
45nm CPUs and triple SLI brought to the 680i SLI chipset. And best of all: It works troublefree. |

Am I just blind or does it not list the processor used? I know I an't see it mentioned in the test system.
Is it time for Mr Lel to visit specsavers? Nice to see my board the striker 2 Formula included but does anyone else think the LCD poster is a waste of time? I mean it's nice when setting up a new build but other than that all it ever does is show the time for 15 minutes and then default to 'UPDT DMI'. I find that really annoying as every single driver is regularly updated and I'm always on the latest bios. Solved the problem though by knocking off the top of my pc and down the back of my desk. Be nice if chipset heat could have been included, that was the primary reason for ditching my last motherboard especially after overclocking. My P5NE-SLI Plus on stock clocks ran so hot I took the skin off my fingers, the striker 2 formula is much more manageable and i'm sure has had an impact on my case temperatures. |

We actually had that board in to the office to review (not necessarily this review) but our original sample had issues, as did the replacement so it has not made it through our test suite yet.

On the LCD Poster, I can see how it is useful for novices or those with system issues so I dont really mind it being included personally. As for chipset temperatures, if a particular board creates excessive heat we will mention it but to be honest most of the time nowadays as long as a case has adequate airflow everything is usually fine temp wise. |

I had to handtweak some voltages (CPU core and RAM), but now it runs without anymore troubles, CPU is an E8400, RAM is fully populated 4x1 GB.
