HandshoeMouse @ DH

HandshoeMouse Review
____________________

It is almost impossible to imagine modern society without the mouse. Sure, we could all be sitting here typing away on command lines but the GUI and the mouse have created an invaluable convenience for the masses. The first compact mouse was invented in 1962 and by today’s standards would be considered quite primitive. The design used two wheels which made contact with the surface to register movement across the X and Y axis. As mice became more advanced we saw the introduction of the mechanical ball mouse by Xerox PARC, which was in turn followed by the optical mouse years later.

We see all sorts of mice on the market now, many targeted at specific sectors and audiences. Today we’re going to look at the HandshoeMouse, an ergonomic mouse which aims to allow the user’s hand to relax and reduce muscular tension in the hands and arms.

I have the Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000, and find it comfortable. I guess this is the next step up.

Yeah, having used that Microsoft mouse I can say that it really is another sensation.

One of the big differences is the way your muscles in your wrist and hand relax when using the HandshoeMouse. If you look at the Handshoe is supports the wrist and the side of the hand in a completely different way than the stumpier Microsoft mouse. The mouse relieves a lot of tension, especially in the underside of your arm. The Microsoft mouse feels like the construction may be of slightly higher quality but the design of the Handshoe is certainly better.

It is very expensive and certainly isn't for everyone, but for some people there is definitely value in it.

Re: HandshoeMouse @ DH

With that price, I guess I'll wait for a no-name Chinese version.

Re: HandshoeMouse @ DH

To be fair to the company, they are small, the research and development side has been costly and the product is targetting a niche audience. For that particular audience it certainly is a leading product.

Obviously for a lot of our audience this probably won't appeal but im sure there are designers and people with RSI who would find it viable.

Re: HandshoeMouse @ DH

no forward/back buttons? That is a deal breaker right there.

for a fellow like me, that has problems with my own right hand, the Razor mouse and this brand and the ergonomic logitech equivalents are wonderful. I am going to buy one of these and try it our for myself, and if it relieves any stress at all on my hand it will be worth it.
Refreshing to see a review of a product that is about comfort and ergonomics again.
thanx guys
Good work.
