Re: Razer Mamba Gaming Mouse @ DH

Recieved my mamba and steelseries sx a few days ago and i'v tested it enough now with the sx and the desctructor to write up my thougths.

Razer Mamba & Steelseries SX:

Feel: It's a hard metal mat, the finish is perfect. The tracking feels very accurate, more accurate than on the destructor. Even the smallest movements are registered, which is perfect for a mouse like the Mamba. However it doesn't have as much glide as you might think from their website, it still has more glide than the destructor though. Using the mamba on this overall feels very controlled. There is enough resistance in the mat so that i can aim accurately, yet there is enough glide so that moving the mouse is fairly easy.

Comfort: Depends on if you can get used to the coldness. It was really wierd in the start, but after a few days i don't even notice it. It's also twice as tall as the destructor, but i don't notice this when i use it.

Other: Get's dirty and has to be cleaned. This is a bit of a hassle, and it's necessary for good performance.

Price: Too steep. I wouldn't say it's overpriced because apparently it's expensive to make, but it's not good value either, unless you really want it. I don't regret buying mine though.

Razer Mamba & Destructor:

Feel: It's a hard plastic mat, the surface is grained. Tracking feels fairly accurate but not as accurate as the SX which would register even small movements. It has a less glide than the SX. Using the mamba on this overall feels controlled, but not precise as the SX. There is more resistance in this mat due to the roughness but unfortunately it's not as easy to control the movement of the mouse. It takes more power to start / stop moving than on the SX. I think this is due to the weight of the Mamba, as it's easier to use this mat with the copperhead which is lighter.

Comfort: Doesn't feel different to use than any other normal mousemat.

Other: Comes with a case. Yay!

Price: Fair. It's a very good mousemat and it's a lot better value for money than the SX.

Bottom line:

Both are good mats and viable options with the Mamba. Which one you choose depends on what kind of feel you like and what you can afford.

All of this is my subjective opinion from my experience. Not the absolute truth.
