Good review.
I am feeling dissapointed that they still ship these machines with 32bit OS.

Great review and looking good overall. Read the notes on including a better graphics card and agree with that. Other than that looks solid and the Razer mouse is a nice addition

BlueMak agreed on the 32 bit OS and Nathan did some checking on the last laptop article and seems this is coming ... which is a good thing

Re: ASUS G71V Gaming Laptop @ DH

Yeah that was a good read!

I agree about why Asus thinks shipping a 32bit OS is such a good idea...

My laptop from them they also shipped it to me and that was almost a year ago. You think by now they would catch on...

Also has sweet DDR3 ram and a Quad Core CPU. Don't see many of those yet in laptops. If they could have put a video card with 1gb of ram in I bet this system would have been that much better. O well can't ask for everything for the price.

Re: ASUS G71V Gaming Laptop @ DH

A good read, but, unfortunately, the one that reinforces the belief that laptops aren't for gaming. That kind of money would buy a (comparatively) killer gaming desktop and here, we've got the looks that scream gaming, the Razer mouse, a mighty CPU, lots of RAM, overclocking, all the bells and whistles and... GTA IV at 1152x864, everything on low, dragging it's feet at 30fps and sinking as low as 18.

Restyle it completely, maybe even put a weaker graphics card, and, depending on the way they go, they get a good, affordable mobile workstation, or a very capable mobile HTPC (as it's not even noisy). As it is, it's a gaming laptop that couldn't run blockbuster games at it's native resolution the day it was released, which spells failure in my oppinion.
